Upon startup, you are presented with the FTProofsheet window. FTProofsheet knows how to connect to the lab server, and you simply enter your user code, which was supplied to you by the lab. The checkbox gives you the option of seeing your code in plain text, or in "password" style.

FTProofsheet uses "film rolls" as metaphors for directories. When you receive your listing, you will see one or more rolls in a tree view. Expanding any of the roll nodes will reveal a list of the enclosed files. In turn, selecting any file will show its thumbnail image. The reasons why you might wish to browse your images, before downloading, will be covered in the next section.

Note: When you first log in, FTProofsheet builds a thumbnail cache of the new rolls, and you are notified that this is in progress. If there are many rolls and/or files in the order, this will take a while (though we're still talking "seconds.") You do not need to wait for this to finish, if you are simply downloading everything and are not interested in browsing.
